Currently the Disrupt 2011 happens, a startup event organized by TechCrunch, where new applications and services are introduced. These new services are most interesting, but almost all are still in private beta. An already available application is the mobile citizen journalism service Meporter, which like most of the introduced apps has a very own subject and business model. (For other applications s.a. Disrupt Videos.)
Meporter is providing a mobile application to create and distribute news, which may consist in texts, photos or videos. The news published by the application are available on the web and on the mobile internet to other Meporter users. At all the service is focussing on local news and only those users being at a particular location are able to comment. All other users may just access the news, which ideally ensures a relevant news stream. To communicate with others the service has a social networking infrastructure enabling to follow particular authors within the service, to connect with friends and to distribute news on other social networks.
