The social network Plag is different to common well known social networks in various ways. Plag as well provides features to share articles and information, but sharing does not work via friends but by a proverbial viral principle.
The general approach of the network is a local one. Participants may publish articles and news, which will be sent to other users, who are in local reach. These recipients now decide, if they send the message to others or not. If a message is most interesting, this may be spreaded around the world. But following does not exist even in this case.
Beside this approach to sharing Plag has some further most special features as well as detailled stats to measure the spreading of a message. Such a special feature is called geo fencing. By geo fencing one may limit the spreading of a message to a local or regional level. Plag itself names events as an example to use this feature.
A brief introduction to the idea and the ways it works is given by the following video. To learn more visit the homepage of Plag.
